PassQR Tag
What a tag is
A PassQR tag is a sticker or card you put on something of yours — a car, a gate, a piece of equipment, a bag. Someone who needs to reach you about it scans the code and writes to you. They never learn who you are, where you are, or how to contact you again, and you never learn who they are.
I scanned a tag. What happens to my message?
It goes to the tag’s owner, and how urgently depends on what you said. If nobody answers, the app keeps trying other ways of reaching them. You do not need the app or an account to send one, and you are never asked for your name, your email or your phone number.
I am not getting alerts for my tags
Check that notifications are allowed for PassQR Tag in iOS Settings, and that the tag is not silenced in the app. Alerts can also reach you by text message and in a browser; add or repair those in the app under Settings → Alerts. A text alert only ever goes to a number that has confirmed a one-time code, so if you never completed that step, no texts will arrive.
Stopping text messages
Reply STOP to any message, or remove the number in the app. Reply HELP for help. Removing your number deletes it from our records and does not affect your account or your tags.
Reporting a tag
If a tag is being used to harass whoever scans it, report it from the page you reached by scanning it. Reports go to us, not to the tag’s owner — the owner cannot see them and cannot make them go away. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Blocking someone
A tag owner can block whoever sent a particular message, and that block holds for that tag without identifying anybody. A person who sent a message can end the conversation from their side at any time, which also stops any notifications they had turned on.
How long conversations are kept
Two days after a conversation closes, its contents are deleted — the message, any reply, any photo or voice note, and the location record. A tag owner can set that to anything from one to thirty days in the app. Conversations that have been reported are held until the report is resolved. See the privacy policy for the detail.
Digital passes
A pass will not add to my wallet
Open the pass link in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android rather than inside another app’s browser, which often cannot hand the pass to your wallet. If it still refuses, send us the link and we will look at the pass itself.
My pass is out of date
Passes update on their own when the business that issued them changes something. If yours has not caught up, remove it and open the original link again.
Scanning and validation
If a scanner rejects a pass that should be valid, check the device’s clock and network first, then write to us with the pass ID shown on the scanner.
Your data
To see, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, email privacy@passqr.com. The privacy policy sets out what we collect and why, and the terms cover the rest.
Still stuck
Write to support@passqr.com. Tell us what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead; if it involves a tag, include the code printed on it. That is usually enough to find the problem on the first reply.
